The Best Mayonnaise Ever!

The Japanese have done it again and if i may say so myself, nothing can top this Japanese mayonnaise. The brand is ”Kewpie” (pronounced..kew-pea). It’s really just the best mayonnaise ever and that’s it.
Here at Woodlands, we’ve tried to re-create the distinct and unique flavor of the mayonnaise but it just hasn’t been done. We have a soup and sandwich of the day on the lunch menu and some days this little jewel will be part of it. It transforms all sandwiches into awesome sandwiches. Don’t be fooled by imitations. Some food distributors sell “Kewpie” but it’s not the same. If it doesn’t have the baby (see packaging), it doesn’t have the flavor. The most distinct ingredient in the mayonnaise being the mono-sodium glutamate (MSG….which rules).
Hi Jordan, My husband Jeff and I have been frequent visitors to the Woodlands over the years not only for the excellent service and superb dining, but for the fact that my husband has a severe allergy to MSG and you guys are one of the few places that we can go dine and not worry. So I was somewhat surprised to see the mayo blog….I am curious about your replication efforts…did you include msg in your version? With the changes that have gone on in the kitchen over the past year have you added any additional items that might contain msg, autolyzed yeast extract or hydrolyzed soy, corn or wheat protein? Just checking to see if Jeff needs to just drink wine with Stephane and skip the meal (just kidding!) want to be safe though! thanks. Traci
