Building upon its stellar reputation and continuing commitment to tradition, Woodlands Resort & Inn announced a hallmark plan to add a destination spa, uniquely configured guest quarters, and an expanded conference facility. The master plan includes the addition of a new restaurant, red-clay tennis courts and a magnificent reflecting pool bordered by longleaf yellow pines, magnolias and ancient oaks. Ground breaking is anticipated in the spring of 2006 with a projected completion date of fall 2007.

The focal point for the master plan is Woodlands Spa. The spa design is inspired by the former Pine Forest Inn, which opened its doors in 1891 during Summerville's golden age as a health resort. While the building and staff will evoke a feeling of a forgotten era, the facilities will deliver the expected sophistication and conveniences of a 21st century spa. The Spa will be located in the heart of the resort - to insure guest privacy. The facility will feature 16 guest suites, 16-20 spa treatment rooms, an indoor pool, and a casual 45-seat restaurant.

The Spa's restaurant will be situated in a lightly shaded glass conservatory evoking a feeling of grace and beauty. Belying the myth that spa food offers a limited selection, menus will change daily and incorporate the best local seafood, vegetables and fruit in season. The restaurant will enhance the many spa programs that will be available for guests seeking to revitalize their minds and bodies during their stay.
